Check Out these 3 Treatments for Bloating

Bloating can make you very uncomfortable, and that means you want it to go away – ASAP!!

Fortunately, there are many treatments that can work to make you feel like yourself again. These include home remedies, over the counter medications and prescription medications that your doctor might recommend.

Home remedies for bloating

Here are a couple of the home remedies for bloating that may help reduce the occasional bout of bloating and gas:

  1. Drink plenty of water – Water helps keep your digestive system moving, and that means less chance for gas to build up in your body.
  2. Get more exercise – The more you move, the more you encourage food to travel through your body. Your digestion gets a boost from a good round of exercise.
  3. Try hot teas – The heat of chamomile, basil, peppermint or ginger tea can soothe your tummy – try ginger and lemon to help increase digestive juices before a meal too.
  4. Take a digestive enzyme – It is best to take this before your meal, however many people find benefits even after ingesting a meal. Full spectrum is best.

Over the counter treatments for bloating

A;though it is always important to try the home remedies first, if they don’t work, it’s time to move to something stronger. These over-the-counter medications can treat bloating as well as other issues you might have that go along with that icky feeling.

  1. Beano – By eliminating gas, this little pill can also help eliminate bloating – or at least keep it from getting worse.
  2. Products containing simethicone – This medication attacks the gas bubbles, quickly reduces them and thus can make you feel much better very soon.
  3. Lactaid – This medication can help your body digest dairy enzymes, which is a great treatment for those who are lactose-intolerant.
  4. Antacids – Though antacids won’t decrease or eliminate the gas in your intestines, they will allow you to belch more easily, and that means less buildup. Belching and burping can also be a great way to relieve the pain of bloating.

Remedy for bloating from your doctor

Your doctor might recommend that you try other treatments if these home remedies or over the counter products don’t work well for you. In some cases, you might need prescription medications to relieve the symptoms. Only your doctor can tell you which prescriptions might work for you.

Your doctor can run tests to help determine what else is going on inside your body, and may lead to a diagnosis of a more serious health condition. Feeling bloated all the time is no joke and can definitely be a more severe illness.
