Gas and bloating are common ailments that affect everyone at some point in their lives. However, from time to time, the painful symptoms can become a frequent issue that needs to be stopped. In order to do this you must first understand what some of the causes of bloating are:

  1. Type of food – The usual culprit for bloating and gas is the foods we eat. Foods that cause gas can vary from person to person; for instance, you might not be able to handle dairy products at all, while your friend has no trouble at all. The most common culprits include various types of beans or lentils, green vegetables, foods high in fat or those that contain artificial sweeteners
  2. Swallowing to much air – When you eat or drink quickly, you let a small amount of air into your stomach. This also happens when you drink carbonated beverages. Over the coarse of a meal, this air can build up. It is often released as a burp and you feel relief, but other times it lingers, and you begin to feel awful for a while.
  3. Gastrointestinal disorders – Often the first sign of a serious gastrointestinal disorder is the symptoms of gas and bloating after eating certain foods. There might also be other signs, such as abdominal pain or unexplained weight loss. Two of the most common disorders are celiac disease, where your body objects to anything containing gluten, and lactose intolerance, where your body is unable to breakdown the sugar in dairy products. Both these cause gas and bloating, and other more series problems as laid out in our ebook.
  4. Major sugery recently – When you have major abdominal surgery, air gets into your body through the incision. The air is eventually absorbed by your body, but in the meantime, it can cause what feels like intense gas pains. This can occur for several days after the surgery and might be severe enough to request pain medication from your doctor
  5. Low Exercise – Excercising moves digested food through your body, helps your colon absorb gas and can relieve the symptoms of bloating. Exercise also works wonders for avoiding constipation, which can also lead to gas and bloating if it continues for an extended peroid of time.
